Durham Police had appealed for help in finding the boy and his mother from Darlington in Turkey.
A four-year-old boy and his mother who sparked an international search have been found “safe and well”, police say.
Durham Police said there were “serious concerns” about the Darlington pair who had travelled to Turkey in June.
A force spokeswoman said both of them had been located and have returned to the UK “where they are receiving appropriate support”.
She thanked those who shared the appeal which was seen by “hundreds of thousands of people across the world”.
